It makes sense that the other name for a blanket would be “comforter.” Picture the famous Peanuts character Linus, thumb in mouth, clutching his blankie as it draped along the floor.

 

When Is A Blanket, Not Just A Blanket…

Dear Friends: With your permission, I’d like to tell you a story of what I’ve come to call,

“The Gift of Warmth”

Several months ago I learned of a woman named Sandy, living in my Orange neighborhood, who together with several close family members and friends had launched a project to make fleece blankets for donation to local chemotherapy centers. Sandy conceived this idea after she herself was gifted by a fleece blanket lovingly sewn by her mother, Joy, to warm and protect her daughter within the chilling, and perhaps overwhelming, environment where Sandy was receiving treatment.
